Thanks that answered a big question, he's not my GGGf, he was single, for 50 years we've tried to determine who my GGFs parents were. He lived to age 111, dying in 1961,in Houston. His death certificate simpley lists his dad as Col. We do know his dad was wounded returned home, went back and was killed in the final weeks of the war. He watched Union troops pillage their farm in Clarke County. His mom died shortly after the war ended. He had received his draft notice, but Lee surrendered before he had to report. I'll keep hunting...for an 1865 casualty..appreciate the reply.
