William B. Ratliff, Sr., Private, Company C, 4th Battalion Alabama Vols.*, enlisted September 23, 1861 at Blountsville, Ala. by Capt. Musgrove for the duration of the war, recorded on the February 28, 1862 muster roll, "Discharged October 30th 61' on account a fracture of the skull by recommendation of the Surgeon," paid on discharge December 20, 1862 [sic], no further records

* This company subsequently became Company C, 29th Regiment Alabama Infantry

The Fourth Alabama battalion was organized during the fall of 1861, at Montgomery. Available records do not record when they moved to Florida

William Ratliff, Jr., Private, Company C, 4th Battalion Alabama Vols.*, enlisted September 23, 1861 at Blountsville, Ala. by Capt. Musgrove for the duration of the war, granted 20 day sick furlough August 9, 1862, last recorded present on the July/August, 1863 muster roll where they were stationed at Mobile, Ala.

Note: There are no further surviving Company C muster rolls
