Two seperate Edward Johnson's were wounded at Shiloh and taken to the Camp Dennison Hospital where they both were admitted on the same day and both died on April 30, 1862. Both were with Company H. The first Edward Johnson was with Company H of the 21st Alabama Infantry and he only has two CMSR's. The 2nd Edward Johnson was with Company H of the 20th Louisiana Infantry and has 14 pages on his CMSR. It might appear at first that these might be the same soldier however they both have different wounds and they are listed in two seperate units. The Edward Johnson from Alabama was shot in the shoulder and has no tombstone as far as I can gather. The Edward Johnson from Louisiana was listed as killed at Shiloh on April 6, 1862 at Shiloh on one of his sheets but shows up at the Camp Dennison Hospital. Serveral of the Confederates listed as killed on the battlefield at Shiloh show up at the Camp Dennison Hospital so that is not so bizzare. The LA soldier had a Spine injury and a concussion. He does have a tombstone at the Camp Chase Cemetery as he was reinterred in May of 1869 from Dennison to Camp Chase. It will be interesting how this plays out. Any thing is possible at this point.
