I am researching my third great-grandfather Hiram A. Thacker of Jackson County, Ala. He served in Company C of the 48th Alabama Infantry. Thacker was admitted to the General Hospital in Charlottesville, Va., on April 25, 1864. He died six days later on May 1, 1864, of pneumonia. He was buried there. I've provided a link to the image of his headstone at the cemetery on the UVA campus.

I am interested to learn more about his service.

1860 Census has him in Jackson County, Ala.
Roster has him listed as H. A. Thacker in Company C of the 48th Alabama Infantry Regiment
