I suspect that 17 year old Edward/Albert Brown enrolled in Hardie's Battalion sometime after their initial company muster-in roll date of October 4, 1864. As these initial muster rolls are all that survived to be incorporated in these records, it isn't surprising that we do not find a record for him.

Original Muster Roll of Captain Geo. M. Bonner's Company of Reserve, Confederate State Army. Organized in the State of Alabama, under General
Order No. 33, A. & I. G. O., Richmond --- Series 1864

I certify on honor that this Muster Roll is correct & is a true exposition of the names & number of men this day inspected & mustered by me into Confederate State Service for the War. That I have carefully examined this Muster Roll & have mustered and minutely inspected the Company, the condition of which is found to be expressed in my remarks herewith annexed & that each member of the Company has satisfactorily proven his age to be between __ & __ & that no person has been exempted from Confederate service in the Company except by special permission from Bureau of Conscription as noted in column of remarks .

This Company was organized in May 11?, 1863 for local defense & special service & the officers commissioned by the War Department. The present Captain was then 1st Lieutenant & holds his com. now. There is but one man in this Company between the ages of 18 & 45. He is a blacksmith & his service could not be dispensed with. He is mustered subject to the approval of the Commanding Genl. Capt. Bonner succeeded to the command of this Company on the 7th of Sept. 1864. This company was mustered under Genl Orders No. 33 on the 15th April, 1864.
