In Response To: John Thornton ()

Linda,
Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp 1610 in Monroeville has undertaken to document as many burial sites of Confederate soldiers from SW Alabama as possible. Do you know the burial site of John E. Thornton?
According to our notes, he was living in Butler county when the 1907 Ala. Confederate census was taken. We show much of the information that has been shared by the other gentlemen and also have notes that he was seriously wounded at the Battle of Ezra Church during the Atlanta campaign. Wounded 28 July 1864 and admitted to hospital 31 July 1864. Source: Illene Thompson and Wilbur Thompson in their book, The Seventeeth Alabama Infantry, A Regimental History and Roster.
