Re: Last day of James B. Colquitt, 6th Alabama

James Banks Colquitt was my great grandfather. He was indeed born, married and fathered four of his children in Upson County, Georgia. Sometime after his fourth child was born, James moved his family to Alabama, and my grandfather was born there in according to our records on 20 November 1861 at Loachapoka, Russell , Alabama. Following the war, his widow Elizabeth moved the family back to Upson County, Georgia and according to the census records of the following decades, was shown as Farmer and Head of household.

James and the other male siblings all served the CSA. Three were lost in battle and three returned home to Georgia and lived out their lives there.
