Moses' Company of Cavalry*** present October 10, 1863, n.p and absent at the July & August, 1864 musters, remarks: Provost Marshal, Demopolis, Ala., September 30, 1864 shows "Capt present on detached service," recorded as Captain, Company I, 8th Alabama Cavalry****, present, sick in camp on their Nov & Dec,1864 muster, subsequently promoted to Major

* This squadron was transferred to the 8th Regiment Alabama Cavalry by S. O. No. 147, dated Headquarters Selma, October 6, 2864, and became Companies I & K of that regiment. This order was revoked by S. O. No. 72, Headquarters Department of Alabama, Mississippi and East Louisiana, dated Meridian, March 17, 1865, on account of the squadron having been ordered to be incorporated with the 9th Regiment Mississippi Cavalry, by S. O. No. 301, A. & I. G. O., dated December 21, 1864, but neither of the last two orders appears to have been carried out because of the close of the war.
