J. C. R. Webb appears on roll with Capt. Freeman Johnson's Co."D", 13th Alabama Partisan Ranger Battalion, a company recruited in Walker and Winston Counties. This was one of four companies organized at Jasper AL, Sept. 6, 1862. His age is given as twenty-two, absent on detached service, roll dated Oct. 31, 1862. On June 8, 1863, the 13th and 15th Alabama Partisan Ranger Battalions merged to form the 56th Alabama Regt. At this time Capt. Freeman Johnson's company became Co. "H", 56th Alabama Regt. The last roll on file for this company, dated Oct. 31, 1863, shows Webb absent in a hospital at Ponotoc MS.
