This should be of interest as nearly all the fighting on April 16th took place on the Alabama side of the Chattahoochee. The same is true of the action at Fort Tyler near West Point GA.

Some of the major Alabama units involved in the fighting included the 7th Alabama Cavalry, Russell's 4th Alabama Cavalry, Clanton's Alabama Battery, and the 3rd and 4th Alabama Senior Reserve Regiments. The senior reserves arrived in Columbus by rail from Montgomery, leaving when General Dan Adams decided not to fight for the state capital.
