Thanks Ken, Rock Mills is in Randolph County which is right on the Ga. line. If they were going to march him back to LaGrange, Tallapoosa County would have been a little west of where they wanted to go. But that by no means that it is not what they did. This whole research centers around Capt. John Thomas Boykin of Liberty Hill GA. mentioned in the diary as Capt. J.T. Baggin. In messages on the Ga. board, I am finding out what I wanted to prove, which was that Capt. Boykin had rejoined a state guard as a private, and was using his home as a camp for that guard, most likely is not true. Although a J.T. Boykin Jr. does show up on the rolls for this state guard unit, so maybe it was his son, and they did use the former Captains farm as a camp. Also the diary mentions the 87th Confederates, I can find nothing on them, so my search continues. Thanks again for all the replies, and if anyone has anything else that would be greatly appreciated also.
