James B. & Robert H. Tucker served in Company B,16th Alabama Infantry
There is no J. or John Tucker listed on rosters of the 8th Alabama Infantry.
We do find however,
John A. P. Tucker, age 19, enlisted as a Private in Company B, 46th Alabama Infantry March 6, 1862 at Brooksville, Coosa County, Alabama, captured at Port Gibson, Mississsippi May 1, 1863, received at Military Prison, Alton, Illinois May 18, exchanged June 12, 1863, admitted to Howard's Grove, Richmond, Va June 24, 1863 with Variolord*, returned to duty July 11, paid for the first 6 months of 1863 on July 11, 1863, last recorded as receiving clothing on April 30, 1864, no further records
* A mild form of Smallpox
Also in Company B was James O. A. Tucker, age 32, discharged June 16, 1863; J. A. Tucker captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi July 4, 1863, paroled July 10; Cary W. Tucker, age 20, captured at Vicksburg July 4, paroled July 10
