Re: Co. H, 36th Alabama Infantry

Mr. Pitts,

In my possession are a series of letters my grandfather wrote while moving from Mobile into Tennessee. In addition, I have a note from the Surgeon in Charge at Stout addressed to Captain Wright, Co. H, informing him of my grandfather's death. Captain Wright wrote my grandmother and eloquently expressed his regrets. The letter was written while the company was camped near Chattanooga. He stated that my grandfather was sent to Stout Hospital in Dalton, Ga. about the middle of June 1863.

Lt. Col. Lewis Woodruff wrote a field note to Captain Wright re: my grandfather's possessions and due compensation. I have that note and the discharge papers for my grandfather.

Do you know if there were any photos taken of Co. H. If so, where my I access them.

Thank you,

Don Polzin
