After William Calvin Bethune first served in Co. F of the 7th Alabama during the first year, he served very briefly in Co. D of the 53rd Alabama, before being commissioned as a captain in the 57th. I was so impressed with the account of his wounding at Peachtree Creek that I put the account, and his picture, on page 198 of my book on the 53rd.
