Do you have any information on the situation of my ancestors/relatives who were in Co A, 41st AL Infantry. They apparently deserted and were subsequently shot. M. T. Cabiness was a 2nd Sgt (age 31) who deserted 1st July 1863. Accorodin to one source he was shot in Tuscaloosa 9 Sept 1863. I think this would have been newsworthy, but have few details. Also, A. C. Cabiness (age 19) deserted to the enemy on 14 Aug 1864; Obediah Cabiness was court-martialed and shot for desertion Nov 10, 1864. Other men in this regiment who were related (I think) by marriage to these men were Wiley and William Bailey who deserted in 1864.
