Re: Colonel John A. Minter - muster roll..???
In Response To: Colonel John A. Minter ()

Hi Bruce -

thanks for your posting. Do you have any muster roll info for Co. A of the 1st Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi regiment that you describe? Would muster roll info for this regiment be filed in Alabama, Tennessee, or Mississipi units....????

If Riley Marion Byrd was in that company commanded by John A. Minter, there should be some documentation to that effect?

"Your ancestor probably served under John A. Minter (company A) in the First Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi in 1862. The regiment surrendered at Island No. 10. Most of the men were released from prison that Fall. Minter became the colonel of the 54th Alabama, and continued to serve under General Alpheus Baker for the remainder of the war."

thanks for your help!!

Kenneth Byrd
