At the beginning of July, 1864 Wilcox's division was divided into two segiments. Lane's and McGowan's brigades were sent north of James River where they were commanded by Brig. Gen. Conner. Thomas' and Scales' brigades were sent to Bermuda Hundred.

Some of Wilcox's brigades were sent south of the James to fight the Federals at Ream's Station and he commanded them in that fight.

My question is did Wilcox command any of his troops in July and the first part of August 1864?
