Re: question about a court martial

There are two different men by the name Thomas W. Vardaman in Co. "K", 10th Alabama Regiment. The man who enlisted on June 4, 1861, when the company organized at Montevallo AL is usually listed as Thomas W. R. Vardaman. It looks as if he was killed on May 18, 1864, and has a marked burial at Spotsylvania Courthouse VA.

The other man, Thomas W. Vardaman, enlisted on Aug. 24, 1862, Selma AL. Both Vardamans have the same CM record on file, but this man was the one brought up on charges. Thomas W. Vardaman was killed on the picket line outside Petersburg VA, Oct. 2, 1864.
