Re: William Henry McMillan, CSA casualty

The McMillans were and are a prominent family who lived in the counties of SW Alabama. Dr. William Wallace McMillan was the Captain of the Scotland Guards, Co. H. 17th Ala. Reg't. He survived the war and is buried at Old Scotland Presbyterian Church in rural Monroe County.

Benjamin Franklin McMillan, killed at Franklin in 1864, was his brother. They were the sons of Archibald Smith McMillan and Sarah McEachem (spelling suspect). I believe his burial place has been noted...if not, it is McGavock Cemetery, section 68, lot 2.

Murdock McMillan was the brother of Archibald Smith McMillan. He was quite old when he enlisted and furnished a substitute, a man named Celest Oliver. Murdock McMillan is buried at Stockton Cemetery.

Malcolm M. McMillan was the son of Hector McMillan, brother of Archibald Smith McMillan and Murdock McMillan. He, too, is buried a Stockton Cemetery.

William Henry McMillan, killed at Poorhouse, was the son of Mark McMillan, brother of Archibald, Hector, and Murdock.
