Thank you for the added info and it makes sense. The operations against the groups in the stateline swamps were definitely conscription movements so the Conscription Bureau association is logical. The newspaper reports I've found of the operations from 1864-1865 usually refer to the Alabama units as militia, but likely the editor was just generalizing. South of the border, the 1st Florida Reserves, 5th Florida Cavalry and Chisolm's (Chisholm's) Cavalry Company from Woodville (Gordon) were involved.
