If he died during the Civil War, it is possible he died in Virginia, as the 59th Alabama transferred from the Western theater of the Civil War to Virginia in the winter of 1863-64. The largest and best-known of all Confederate cemeteries is Oakwood Cemetery located in Richmond, Virginia.
