At a recent Civil War symposium in Sarasota, a gentleman approached after a short talk I gave on my ancestors in Co.B of the 6th Alabama. He told me he had a short rifle that was a Potts & Hunt mfg. An engraving on the hammer plate said "6th Alabama". He asked me if I knew any thing about this weapon or if this model was widely used by the 6th. I know that the English company P&H , as a contractor, made Enfield style weapons. Does any know if they were used by any companies in the 6th? Any idea about who ( e.g.,sgt., sgt major?) may have used such a weapon in the 6th ?Has anyone heard of such a weapon being used by the 6th ?
