In Response To: Isaac Winter, Cosa , Ala. ()

A lot of Alabama cavalrymen were captured in Wheeler's disaster at Shelbyville TN. The date was June 27, 1863.

The entry cannot have a legitimate connection to the 7th Mississippi Cavalry, and the closest Alabama cavalry unit which used that number was the 9th Alabama Cavalry. For much of the war this command reported as the 7th Alabama Cavalry. "Cosa" of course sounds like Coosa, but just about all the men of the 9th Alabama Cavalry were from NE Alabama: DeKalb, Marshall, Jackson, Madison, Cherokee, Limestone and Morgan Counties.

Nobody named Winter or Winters that I could locate in this Alabama command.
