J. M. N. Peacock is listed as a member of Company A, 12 Ga. Cavalry Bn. (State Guards), and his rank as Sgt. in one source. The other source I have is down just now. I'll try later. To check the unit history you might look first at Ken Jones' fine site http://www.tarleton.edu/~kjones/ and remember this is a State Guard Unit. On State units and personnel you will find the Georgia Dept. of Archives and History, 330 Capitol Ave. S. E., Atlanta, Ga. 30334 to be of assistance--fast, courteous assistance.
