See: Supplement to the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies, part II, vol. 1, serial no. 13, pp. 310-330, which states that Company H, "Warrior Guards," was organized into an artillery company on 28 December 1861, with the rest of the company being united with Company I. Adding to the confusion, the same source indicates that Company A of the 5th regt. later became Company F, while Company K was evidently formed on 27 April 1862 by transfer of part of Company E, 6th Ala. regt. and by addition of new recruits--later Company K became Company A of the 5th regt.
