Letters on tombstone
Thu Nov 2 19:28:01 2000

The letters that you refer to on your ancestor's tombstone indicate that he was a member of the York Rite order of Masons. I myself do not know their meaning as I myself am a Mason, but not a member of the York Rite. This same inscription is on the tombstone of my great grandfather and my father, a York Rite Mason, explained this to me years ago. He did tell me a parody of these letters: " King Soloman Had Ten Wives, Some Say Twenty." This is of course not what they stand for, but that is what they in jest say. Your ancestor was obviously an honorable and well thought of man in the eyes of his contemporaries.
