Homer, I absolutely agree that more Alabamans were in the Western Theater than in the Eastern Theater. I'm specifically comparing the number of units from Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana with the number of units from Alabama in the ANV.

For instance, at Gettysburg the total number of infantry units from the above mentioned states were:

Alabama - 16 Infantry Regiments and 1 Infantry Battalion
Louisiana - 10 Infantry Regiments
Mississippi - 11 Infantry Regiments
Tennessee - 3 Infantry Regiments

It has just always seemed that Alabama contributed more men to Lee's Army than its neighboring states other than Georgia.
