Hi Jim,

Thanks for the answer. Are you looking at the alphabetical printed version of the Broadfoot "Roster of Confederate Soldiers for Alabama"? I'm reviewing the CD-ROM version.

Here's my problem. For the unit names, the normal naming convention for an infantry regiment is ordinal then type of unit or "1st Inf." The only unit which is listed as "Inf. 1st Regt." in the entire Roster of Confederate Soldiers for all the states is "AL Inf. 1st Regt."

The listing for James Sessions copied directly from the disk looks like this:

Sessions, James AK Inf. 1st Regt. Co.B

I wonder, if the books were printed from this electronic database and because of the misnaming of the state in this record, he is left out of the printed version for AL?

I'll continue to research this an if I find out what unit he was in I'll forward the info.
