There is an area north of Fairhope, Al. on Mobile Bay called Red Bluff. The red clay in the area gives the name Red Bluff. South of Fairhope is Point Clear. Point Clear Hotel was used as a hospital during the Civil War and has a rather large cemetary of Confederate solders.
