I also had an ancestor in the 29th and they were at the battle, having just joined the Army of Tenn. My ancestor was Jerimah Kendall who was in Co. B. He was killed at the battle of Franklin at which time he was the color ensign. There is a great book called "Hold at All Hazard" by Zorn. It is a history of the 29th, published in 1987. I found a copy in the Anniston library.
