i have 4 document copies. i will write what each one says and hopefully you may be able to explain them to me.
1. Muster Roll
Capt. Handley's Company, Joseph Blair apprears on a Muster Roll for Bounty of the organization named above. for dated May 11, 1862 Station (unreadible Loachapoka, Al. Enlisted when may 3, 1862 where Randolph Co., by whom J. Handley. period unreadible in War, present or absent, Present.
2. Joseph Blair appears on a Register of Prisoners of War where taken, Danville, KY when, No information, Remarks: ship to Vicksburg Nov. 12 '62
3. Joseph Blair appears on a Receipt. given by Maj N. G. Watts, C.S.A. agent for Exchange to Capt W.W. Bickford, U.S.A. agent for Confederate prisoners of war recieved on board Steamer Metropolitan near Vicksburg, MIss, Dec 4, 1862 receipt dated: not dated when captured: Oct 15, where captured: Danville, Ky
age 25 height 5 ' 6" eyes grey Hair black complexion light Remarks: dead
4. Joseph apprears on a Register Officers and Soldiers of the Army of the Confederate States who were killed in Battle or who died of wounds or disease; when deceased Nov. 12.1862 where and from what cause : in Ohio when received Nov. 28, 1863 (must be an error in the year) Number of certificate 76
ok, here is what i presume to be the chronological order here, joined May 3, 1862, captured Oct 15, 1862. died Nov. 12,1862. so this is my confusion, he is supposidly shipped to Vicksburg on the same day as his death, why would he be listed as killed or died in Ohio? did they exchnage dead bodies? how would i find out if he is buried in Kentucky where it states he orginally died. how do i get a copy of this certificate # 76 to see what is on it?
