Tracy,
The Pickett's of what was then Pike, but now
Bullock County served in the 1st and later
the 6th Ala Cav; Hugh F. Pickett, Sgt, Co I,
1st Ala Cav/Co B, 6th Ala Cav: Sep 22, 1840-
d. of disease at Okalona, Miss May 17, 1862;
s/o Frederick and Martha Farrior Pickett;
Col Henry Colvin of the 6th Cav m. one of
the Pickett sisters; most, along with Col
Colvin and his wife Olive are buried in the
McLaurine-Pickett Cemetery in Bullock County;
this is not to say that all Pickett's from
Pike served with the 6th Cav, only those
from this immediate family; as I recall, a
large portrait of Andrew J. Pickett hangs
in the County Court House at Union Springs,
and believe me, for this part of the country,
that is something.
