Scalps/Forced Removal therof

Perhaps if one were to dig a bit deeper, its possible to discover that the English instigated the practice of taking scalps for a price, the scalps of white folks, the natural enemy of the Indian, not the other way around. Perhaps they were aided and abetted also by the French, as the French and English were a big part of the American early frontier. Either And makes little difference, as the eternal enemy of the Indian was (and is to a great extent) the white man, of whatever brand.

Indians weren't just standing around for the most part awaiting for a white person to kill them, and stack up the bodies. In 500 years all the tribes haven't been militarily defeated, there are still the Seminoles in Florida.

All out war, the killing and maiming of soldiers, as during out Civil War, makes scalping seem pretty minor, if one looks at it with a jaundiced eye. When the Indians became unfriendly, due to White man's perfidy, and went to war, they usually engaged in all out war. From the Shawnee in Ohio to the Creeks at Fort Mims, in alabama, battle with the Originals/Natives wasn't pleasant atall. However, as messy as they could be with the bodies of their enemies, it would pale in comparision to being blown and torn asunder by grapeshot, disembowled by a solid shot, and/or all other myrid examples that ones military mind can conjur up, occured in the Civil War by the thousands and thousands. The various Armies engaged in the Civil War, as well as Armies prior and since considered themselves civilized?
