Here' what Dr. Ken Jone's page says about the 3rd Ala. Cav., Co. I:

Co. "I" [formerly Lenoir County Cavalry] (Dallas, Wilcox Counties)
Captains: James Boykin (transferred); Augustus Tomlinson (died in service); Thomas Lenoir (KIA, Resaca); Henry R. Gordon

I have no idea what Lenoir County has to do with this. That is not an Alabama county name.
