I did not mean to imply that the thread was trying to make that distinction and I understand your reference to the misperseptions of some in the North on the South (which still is prevelant today). Perhaps one of the segments of the thread that caught my eye and led me to post my observation was the following:

"A friend of mine asked me that question.. I told him that i thought the indians that fought during the civil war were civilized compaired to those on the frontier..

Glad I was in the right direction in my reply to him.."

Plus my observations were more a commentary on the general discussion on what might have happend at Pea Ridge from the authorites at that time - the fact that NA might have been involved in scalping union troops, which is 'barbaric'. I found thier obsession with that incident strange in the context of a national civil war. I was not trying to impugn our discussions or those that contributed to the thread. I regret if I came across that way.
