Well, that's a good question. The answer is probably. I don't know if you're familiar with the Compiled Service Records for the Cherokee troops, but they're scanty. So, all I can say is that my ancestors were shown on one or more muster rolls or other document as being members of the 1st Cherokee Mounted Volunteers (Watie's Regiment).

Yes, I agree the 2nd battle of Cabin Creek was an interesting and productive affair for the Confederate side. It ranks as the largest single capture of Union material by any raid during the war. For their efforts the troops under Gano and Watie received commendation from the Confederate Congress.

You stated that you believe you have Muscogee (Creek) blood in your ancestry. Have you read "A Creek Warrior for the Confederacy" by G.W. Grayson (later Creek Nation Chief)? I think you might enjoy this first-hand account of his experiences in the 2nd Creek Mounted Rifles.
