I'll have to swing by the museum and pick up a copy of that book. I need to learn more about the Prattville Dragoons. Also, Volunteers were allowed to end there service if they could get a replacement to enlist in their Company for them. I don't know the particulars of how that was done, but have seen it mentioned in Company records. Most of my ancestors served in the Autauga Rifles of the 6th AL Inf. There was a James Terry DeJarnette who served briefly as a volunteer in the Autauga Rifles with his two sons W.O and Cornelius. W.O. died early of camp fever and James Terry was allowed to return home with his body. These DeJarnettes are from Autaugaville and the two boys are buried a small cemetery in downtown Autaugaville. I wonder what the relation may be, if any, to T. DeJarnette of the Prattville Dragoons? I've got a partial map of Autauga County cemeteries and it shows the Dejarnette Family Cemetery located off CR 165 just south Hwy 82 (the old Cinderella Motel). We should venture out there one day.
