CSA soldiers in Georgia Cemetary
Thu Jun 28 16:40:07 2001

If anyone is interested, the City Cemetary of Covington, GA, has 67 CSA soldier's graves. These men were wounded or died of disease during the Battle of Atlanta and Sherman's march through the state. Since this is the Alabama board, I will list the names of soldiers from this state. There are also men from Georgia, Mississippi,Tennessee, Florida, Texas, and North Carolina. Please email me if you would like the names of these soldiers.

R. Thomson-86 Ala.
M. Koney-6 Ala.
A.H. Whilly-1 Ala.
W.A. Aiaerson-58 Ala.
W.A. Munson-58 Ala.
J.A. Roberson-12 Ala.Batt.
J.S. Brooks-33 Ala.
A. Measles-33 Ala.
N. Martin-29 Ala.
J. Willis-38 Ala.
T. Weaver-34 Ala.
J. Hester-28 Ala.

I hope this is helpful. I find the name A. Measles interesting. There are several "Unknown" markers in this section and I wonder if somebody who tended to this soldier did not want him to be completely anonymous. Could this name stand for Anonymous Measles, the disease the unknown young man died of?
