The five companies of Norwood's 6th Alabama Infantry Battalion which later became part of the 55th Alabama Infantry Regiment originally belonged to the 42nd Tennessee. This regiment mustered at Camp Cheatham near Clarksville TN in October of 1861. Let me know if you need organization dates and original captains.
