My gg grandfather ws in the 17th Alabama and was imprisoned at Camp Douglas, Illinois. In April of 1865, he took the oath and became a"Galvanized Yankee," serving on the frontier. He was given a pension, but around 1910 his pension was stricken. The reason that they gave was that he was a traitor.
