The 3rd Alabama Cavalry flag in Chicago is a St.Andrew's
Cross type flag. This design was not adopted for use by
the Confederate Army until Nov.-Dec. 1861. The early war
company presentation flags were always some variant of the
Confederate first national, State flag or unique design of
the makers. Please visit the website "Flags of the Confederacy". You will find a more detailed history of the
St. Andrew's Cross Battle flag there.
