My lists shows several Miles Harts all from union units. One M. E. Hart is listed with Co. I 40th Al. Infan. Could this be your person? My list is by no means complete.You can request his compiled service records from the Al. Dept. of Archives and History or go by the B'Ham public Library and revied the records. This may give you what you are after.
