I can confirm that a John H. Peal was a private in Company F; 13th Al. Infan. National Archives Box, Roll, and Number 000374, 0035, 00001067.
You can acquire his compiled service records and pension appllications for the Al. Dept. of Archives and Records, the B'ham libray or the National Archives. The pension applications may not be available for the latter two sources.
