Want to thank you tremendously for your kind offer to do ancestor tracing in Columbia. My mother was born there many years ago.

Briefly:
1) My g gm's death certificate indicates her father was Y. N. Butler.
2) She was born in Manning.
3) Found a Young Newton Butler indexed on 1860 U. S. Census, Clarendon Co., SC. I have not actually viewed this census yet. If it is my guy, then wife should be Adriana Dixon (maybe Dickson). There should be several daughters and only one male--Morgan.
4) Found a Y. N. Butler serving as captain of 21st and/or 25th. Also, he was from Clarendon Co., SC

So, tentative belief is that Young Newton Butler who served in 21st and/or 25th SC Infantry is my gg gf. Need to verify.
