Well now-back to the Black Confederates that served General forrest. The SCV Camp 1828 in Cookeville, Tennessee on or about July 21, the good Lord willing, will have as their honored guest one Mr. Nelson Winbush whose Grandfather (a Black man) Louis Napoleon Nelson rode with Forrest's 7th Cavalry. This is an open celebration of some sort in the City and part of any proceeds are to be utilized for a monument to Confederate Soldiers. I haven't authenticated Mr. Winbush's pedigree, but have no reason to doubt it. I misplaced my flyer for this event, so am utilizing notes taken over the phone from Cookeville.
