Mr. Purvis,
Thank you for the e-mail. This particular area of the County has been the
subject of much thought and debate with past Boards of County Supervisors.
As a result, previous Board of County Supervisors adopted a Comprehensive
Plan for the area that is much more detailed than any other area of the
County in terms of how the area would be designed if it were to be
developed. The Bristoe Station Battlefield area is he only part in the
Cultural Resources chapter of the Comprehensive Plan where there are design
strategies for dealing with new development as it relates to cultural
resources. The Planning staff, applicant for the rezoning, and preservation
groups have been meeting on how to best preserve the battlefield. The
applicant has been very responsive and has submitted revised plans to the
County that shows 127 acres of open space in the area where most of the
fighting occurred. As more information comes in, it will be available in the
Planning Office. The staff report for the rezoning, as well as public
hearings dates, will be posted on the County's web page.

Best regards,

Sean
