Brown's Ferry, etc.

There has been a lot of confusion on the two Brown's Ferries. One ran on the TN River between Lawrence and Limestone Counties, AL. (Very near Brown's Ferry nuclear plant.) The old roadbed is still visible there. The other one, also on the TN River, was 6-7 miles from Chattanooga, TN, according to the "Official Record." When the "Confederate Military History" (Vol 7, Page 40)said Roddey was left at Brown's Ferry when Forrest went after Streight, I always assumed it meant the Lawrence Co. one. However, there are contradictory reports on Roddey's location and movements during this time frame. According to the "Official Record," (Series 1, Vol 23, Part 2, Page 728) Col. Roddey and his regiment were ordered to North AL 28 Mar 1863 to relieve Gen. S. A. M. Wood. Roddey's promotion to Brig. Gen. was still a few months off. Therefore, I am attempting to document Col. Roddey's (and his regiment's) movements during Streight's Raid, not the other units that soon would be under his command. I apologize for the sloppily written original query in which I unthinkingly said "Gen." Roddey.
