First, here is part of a short summary that I have written about the 5th Ala. Inf.:

"The 5th Alabama Infantry was organized at Montgomery, May 5, 1861, apparently for one year’s service. The Regiment was in Yorktown in March 1862." However, the regiment was in the process of reorganization as early as November 29th of that same year. After reorganization, many (if not all) companies changed letter designation. For example, Company C became New Company H.

Because of the Sept. 1862 dates, your relatives appear to be "replacements", i.e. replacing men no longer with the regiment. Their "enlistment" might have taken more than one step. That is, they may have been conscripted (or volunteered) for Confederate service at one place, then transported to another location for enlistment into Confederate service, and then transported to yet another location for muster into a specific regiment. This might explain the multiple locations given for "enlistment".
