:In Thomas J. Rankin's letters he refers to to the war as "me and the boys are not bowing down to Lincolnism." (7th Miss. Inf Regt.) I would tend to think that he was refering the taxing of exported cotton, the main crop of the south and the government trampling on states rights. Slavery was only an afterthought to the North. Someone once told me that Lincoln was the father of the big government concept. Look at what a mess it is now!! You might also consider expansion of the country (economics)for the slaughter of the Indians.
For the post about the Korean War, expansion again was the cause. Viet Nam was expansion and so has every war before and after.
