Hayes Lowe
Capt. (?)/ Col. (?) T.G. Williams
Fri May 11 16:49:56 2001
In March 1862, the Sheriff of Pickens County reported to the Governor that T.G. Williams was raising a company of men, and it was "rapidly filling up".
T.G. Williams was a 1st Lt. in the 2nd Alabama Infantry, whose one year enlistment was almost up. I have no other record of him, except possibly this:
WILLIAMS, Thomas, Col.
Veteran. Service unknown. An uncle of Nancy Hodo. Nancy died in 3/28/1867, and her obituary said that the Colonel was “of Pickens County”.
Since this was 1867, I don't think that the rank of Colonel was likely a post-war appellation.
Does anybody know of a T.G. Williams' Company? Or, who Col. Thomas Williams was?
Another clue.
